An election ends, but our communities’ needs don’t. Families still need health care. Workers still need support. Neighborhoods still need clean air, safe water, and opportunities to thrive.
That’s why Black Ohio Leaders for Democracy (BOLD) works year-round. Our commitment continues after the votes are counted, with a focus on the issues that affect everyday life.
STARTING WITH COMMUNITY NEEDS
Every community is different. What matters most in one neighborhood may look different in another.
BOLD works in more than 10 local communities across Ohio, helping coordinate programs that reflect local priorities. Our work brings people and resources together to support the needs of Black Ohioans.
FOCUSING ON EVERYDAY ISSUES
Decisions made by elected leaders can affect our homes, jobs, health, and neighborhoods. BOLD’s work focuses on issues such as:
Working families: Policies that support workers and their households.
Health care: Better care and fewer barriers to getting it.
The environment: Protecting the places where we live, work, and raise our families.
These issues are connected. A health care expense can affect a family’s budget. Conditions in a neighborhood can affect residents’ health. Addressing these concerns takes ongoing work.
MAKING A PLAN FOR LASTING CHANGE
One election or one new law cannot solve every problem. Progress takes time, clear goals, and follow-through.
BOLD’s long-term approach means continuing to ask:
What needs to change?
What progress has been made?
What still needs attention?
These questions help keep the work focused on results that matter to our communities.
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY LEADERS
Lasting progress also takes strong local leadership.
BOLD’s vision includes strengthening leaders who can bring people together, keep community concerns visible, and help move the work forward.
Supporting leadership today helps communities continue this work in the years ahead.
CONTINUING THE WORK YEAR-ROUND
Our communities deserve attention throughout the year. BOLD remains committed to supporting local organizing, addressing shared concerns, and working toward long-term goals.
Election Day is one part of the work. Our commitment to community continues.
